Innovative Services NW is partnering with a local nonprofit, Community Mediation Services (CMS), to provide parenting plan mediation services that are grant funded to income-eligible parents. The program provides affordable parenting plan mediation sessions for parents who are going through divorce or dissolution or wish to create or update a formal parenting plan.
The grant assistance is based on the income of the individual parties. Income eligible parents may pay as little as $20 per parent per session. CMS will also provide services on an income-based sliding fee scale to parents who do not qualify for the grant-sponsored services.
About Parenting Plans
Washington State requires parenting plans for parents who are going through divorce or dissolution. The adversarial process of divorce and dissolution can be financially expensive and negatively impact the children involved. The goal of this partnership is to help parents create mutually agreeable parenting plans that support the best interests of the children involved. A parenting plan establishes how the interests of the children can best be served in terms of the residential schedule (where the children will live and the amount of time the child will spend with each parent), decision-making by the parents, and future dispute resolution methods.
